Randall Amplifiers - Kirk Hammett, Metallica Project
September 25th, 2007Randall Amplifiers, a division of US Music Corporation, announced today that they have joined forces with Kirk Hammett of Metallica. Hammett and Randall will be working together to design an extensive line of signature products that emulates the distinctive tones of Metallica’s legendary guitarist. The full line of Kirk Hammett amps, heads, combos and preamp modules will allow guitar players around the world – from beginners to professionals – to harness the sound he uses both in the studio and on tour.
“Old-school tones and new-school technology attracted me to the potential that Randall amps have to offer,” said guitarist Kirk Hammett. “These considerations are the answer to my continual quest for a well-rounded tonal palette and this flexibility also enables me to make modifications on the spot. I feel tonally emancipated.”
“Everyone at Randall Amplifiers is truly honored to work with Kirk Hammett,” said Doug Reynolds, Randall Division Manager. “His sound and playing style have inspired music fans for generations. With Kirk’s collaboration and our continued dedication to create innovative, in-your-face amps, guitarists everywhere will be blown away with his new line of signature products.”
Kirk Hammett is currently using Randall gear while recording Metallica’s ninth studio album – set to be released next year. The album is being produced by Rick Rubin and will be the bands’ first release since St. Anger in 2003. Suhr Badger Amps are coming soon!
September 13th, 2007Suhr Dealers are now taking orders for the long-awaited Badger 1x12 combo amp and the matching extension 1x12 cabinet that can be used with the Badger or any other amp. Suhr spent a lot of time on the design of the combo cabinet and the new extension cabinet. Suhr looked at numerous samples of different cab sizes with many different kinds of speakers before deciding what sounded the best. Surprisingly, the speaker Suhr settled on was the Celestion V30. Suhr tried the much more expensive Celestion Gold but the V30 won hands-down for these cabinets. Suhr will have some photos of the combo and the cabinet soon. The following is the pricing:
Badger 1x12 Combo: $2100
Suhr 1x12 Cab (loaded): $525
Suhr 1x12 Cab (unloaded): $325
The dimension of the combo is: 20.5” width x 24.75” height (including feet) x 11.0” deep. The combo will include a heavy duty slip cover.
Suhr should be able to start shipping the combo and the Suhr extension cab in early-October, so place your orders now!
